The story of Two Blind BrothersUpdated 4 days ago
The story of Two Blind Brothers begins at Bloomingdale’s. Many of our longtime customers and supporters may already know the folklore of our origins, but it best explains how we became obsessed with fabric, feel, and the premium comfort you get from high-quality casual wear.
At the department store, Bradford and Bryan, co-founders of Two Blind Brothers, lost each other among the clothing racks. That didn’t stop them from shopping. Once reunited at the front of the store, purchases in hand, they realized they had bought the exact same shirt.
Bradford and Bryan both live with Stargardt’s disease, a form of macular dystrophy where central vision deteriorates over time while peripheral vision remains intact. (It’s not uncommon for them to show up at the same place and not realize the other is there until one of them recognizes the other’s voice in the crowd.) So shopping for clothes can be especially frustrating—because they can’t simply spot something across the room, try it on, and decide how it looks.
Instead, they rely on other factors to decide what to buy: how a shirt feels, how it fits and moves, how comfortable it is to wear, and feedback from people they trust. That brings us back to how they ended up with the same shirt—among all the different fabric options, it was the best-feeling one in the store.
Right then and there, the idea for Two Blind Brothers was born: make the softest apparel ever and use that platform to support the blind and low-vision community. To date, Two Blind Brothers has contributed over $2,700,000 to help fund vital blindness research and community partners. And as of 2025, Two Blind Brothers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, focused on increasing understanding and awareness of blindness through education, experiences, and community programs.
